Schwarzkopf Launches Shaping Futures 2019 Education Programme

Shaping Futures is an international social initiative launched by Schwarzkopf Professional in 2010. Shaping Futures South Africa was launched in 2016.

Shaping Futures introduces socially disadvantaged young adults to the craft of hairdressing. The initiative gives them the skills and confidence to unlock their potential and enables them to improve their chances in life. We are partnering with our global network of trusted hair professionals, SOS Children's Villages, Plan International and other NPOs.

Shaping Futures South Africa 2019 program will begin on the 9th of September 2019. The 8 week program will take place at the Ladine Hair Academy in Maboneng, Johannesburg.

The curriculum covers cutting, styling, colouring, treatments, hygiene, salon ethics and image, as well as a business module. Students will also be required to work as apprentices in salons on Saturdays to gain practical experience. The programme is presented by experienced South African and international stylists and trainers who volunteer their services.

Shaping Futures South Africa has three goals:

1. Enhance up-and-coming stylists’ hair care skills

2. Provide them with certification so that they have physical proof of their knowledge and skills

3. Facilitate employment opportunities for top-performing students
