Permits to Trade: False Statements on Social Media

PERMITS TO TRADE - FALSE STATEMENTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

The National Bargaining Council for the Hairdressing, Cosmetology, Beauty and Skincare Industry (“The Council”) has been made aware of statement made on Social Media that we as Council assisted certain establishments in acquiring permits to trade.

We hereby confirm that this is untrue, and steps will be taken against these false allegations. The Council would like to reiterate that under Level 4 of the lockdown, all Hairdressing, Cosmetology, Beauty or Skincare services are strictly prohibited.

Only the retail of products is allowed under the strictest regulations as Gazetted.

The Council would also like to make clear that aesthetic treatments for a patient as prescribed by a medical professional for example eczema is allowed. It is however illegal for a therapist or aesthetic therapist to render a service to a client such as a chemical peel. Distinction should be made between a patient and a client.

Kind regards,

Frik Bekker Finance Manager & Acting CEO
