Profile: Abdul Banza Hairstylist – International Expertise in SA
Abdul Banza’s passion for hair began at a young age when he was given the task of walking his six girl cousins to the salon every other week. He soon began to watch as the stylist cut, coloured, dried and then styled his cousins’ hair and this is how he developed a passion for the craft. By age 13 he was practicing on his mother’s hair, and from there, Abdul had decided on his career direction.
Travel has played a very important role in Abdul’s industry experience and he has been fortunate to study and work in countries all over the globe, as well as on a luxury cruise ship.
His studies include the L’Oreal Dark and Lovely Academy in France, as well as L’Oreal in Paris; the London School of Beauty and Make Up in the UK; the American Crew Barber Academy in Boston, and the Schwarzkopf Academy in Berlin, Germany.
Abdul has worked in leading salons including Boston Hair Salon in the USA, Angeline Bajou Hair & Beauty in Zurich, Switzerland, Queens Hair Salon in Mombasa, Kenya, Mzizi Hair Salon in Rosebank, South Africa, Jeauval Hair Salon in Bryanston, and Floyd’s Barbershop in Fourways.
After settling here in South Africa, Abdul has also worked for esteemed brands, and been featured on television shows. During his career, he has worked with local and international celebs including Tyra Banks, Nicki Minaj, Ciara, Iman, AKA, Khuli Chana, Mark William, Thierry Henry, Zidane, Samuel Etò, Djibril Cissé, Carlos Dunga, Michel Platini, Mike Tyson, Warren Whiteley and others.
