Dark & Lovely Academy: Hairdressing Excellence at Golden Scissors Awards

The Dark & Lovely Academy is dedicated to educating, nurturing and growing students and hairstylists to reach their full potential. The Academy’s tuition and inspiration empowered each of the Golden Scissors finalists to hone their skills, producing the most superb themed shows on the night of the competition finals. The hairdressing work itself was world-class, but also evident was how the intensive Boot Camp that all finalists attended, allowed them to grow their artistic vision. The breathtaking looks they created were more than just hair: they were hairdressing elevated to an art form.

The expert tuition at the Dark & Lovely Academy helped to ensure that these talented finalists were able to perform a spellbinding show that blew the audience away. Each and every model showcased a look that was the end result of thought, care, creativity and skill. It was also wonderful to see the finalists’ passion for their career and a desire to push the boundaries of hairdressing in order to lead with their vision.

Congratulations to the finalists Promise Malele, Gaamangwe Tekana Moleta, Lucretia Philander, Thabiso Warren Msiza, Vuyokazi Tshazibana, Matitimane Sibuya, Karabo Selomon Phoshane, Thabiso Thobane and Tsietsi Petrus Mothamaha. The Dark & Lovely artistic team also inspired the audience with an incredible show – when you attend the Academy you are being taught by experts at the highest level of technical and creative ability.

The proud winner of the Golden Scissors Awards was Matitimane Sibuya from Kwa-Thema, with the audience vote going to Lucretia Philander from Cape Town.
